Supply Chain Team at CHA HPMC
For the month of May, we are spotlighting our wonderful and hardworking Supply Chain department. These caregivers are an often overlooked primary cornerstone of CHA HPMC.
They play a pivotal role in ensuring that we have the equipment, supplies, furniture, etc., necessary for the hospital to run effectively and efficiently.
Supply chain plays a huge role in the organization, but we rarely see how your work is played out. Can you summarize what your department does and its different pillars of responsibility?
The Supply Chain Team has the huge responsibility to collaborate, navigate, and communicate with many caregivers. The team seeks out ways to ensure we have everything we need for our patients, while remaining budget-conscious. Each SC technician has their own superpower that they use in positive and productive ways to support their fellow team members and the CHA HPMC community. This is a team that can be counted on!
How did the function of Supply Chain shift during the Covid-19 pandemic?
Covid-19 has changed the way we did business prior to 2020. We were not able to just input an order and expect it to show up on timeor at all. We also had to ration supplies so they were available at the time when they were needed.
Supply shortages, disruptions, and price gauging during Covid-19, especially for PPE was unbelievably challenging. Supply Chain had a lot of support with donations, and ad-hoc approvals for substitutes from leadership. Because of this, the Supply Chain team was quick to adjust and support changes when necessary.
What are some of your team’s goals for this year?
2023 is an exciting time for the Supply Chain team. We are re-optimizing the PAR in all supply rooms in the departments. This way, we can take the task of ordering supplies that are in the warehouse out of the caregivers’ hands. This change in ordering procedures will benefit the caregivers, because the supplies are going to be there when needed, and the supply rooms will be more organized. #

할리우드 차병원 물류지원팀은 병원이 효과적, 효율적으로 운영될 수 있도록 장비나 용품, 가구 등을 확보할 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 한다. 주어진 예산에서 환자에게 필요한 물품을 확보하기 위해 의료진과 적극 협력하고 소통하고 있다. 소모품을 구매하기 어려웠던 코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서도 기부물품을 활용하거나 대체용품으로 전환하며 어려움을 극복했다. 2023년 초부터 품목 별로 물품을 정기적으로 채워놓을 수 있도록 최적화하는 PAR(Periodic Automatic Replenshment) 프로젝트를 구축해 체계적인 물류 지원 시스템을 갖췄다.
